Statement from Congressman Adrian Smith, representing Nebraska’s Third Congressional District where President Donald J. Trump is holding a campaign rally today in Grand Island.
Welcome to Nebraska, Mr. President!
“I’m thrilled to welcome President Trump back to Nebraska’s Third District. Under his leadership, Republicans have lowered taxes, cut red tape, and secured the border.
Last year, we worked together to pass the Working Families Tax Cuts, delivering on key priorities like No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, and No Taxes on Social Security, just to name a few. I’m proud of what we accomplished and the relief we delivered for hardworking Americans.
President Trump also understands the importance of standing up for our agriculture producers and holding our trading partners accountable. His trade agenda has opened markets for Nebraska agriculture and is delivering new opportunities for American products.
President Trump has also supported my efforts to allow year-round sales of E15, and with his support, my bill passed the House and we’re hopeful the Senate will send a final bill to the White House before the end of the year.
We’ve accomplished a lot over the past two years, but I know we have more work to do. And that’s why I’m glad President Trump is here today – because he understands just how critical it is to protect and preserve our Republican majority.
He understands the people who make this state what it is. People who work hard. People who take care of their families. People who do not want handouts, but a fair shot and the opportunity to get ahead. Mr. President, welcome back to the Good Life!”
